This agreement briefly sets out the terms and the way we will work together, and I recommend you have a good read through before our first meeting.
My aim is that all clients feel fully informed about the practical side of coming for therapy, and this document is a clear and concise guide to what is involved. If you decide to continue with therapy at the end of your first session, you will be asked to sign the agreement. This will be kept securely by me, but if you would like a copy for your own records, I will be very happy to provide you with one.
Here you can download a copy of the Client Agreement.
My fees can be found on my website at www.monacopsych.com
If you agree to continue with therapy after your first appointment, I would expect payment for one session in advance to allow me to reserve your slot for the following appointment
This means that at the end of your very first session,I will ask for payment for both the current session and for one session in advance.
If you decide to go ahead with therapy following your first session, I will ask you to commit to regular sessions at the same time each week unless other arrangements can be made.
Unfortunately, it is not usually possible to provide therapy sessions on a fortnightly basis at a regular time, as this would leave a slot empty in alternative weeks.
If you wish to see me on an occasional basis or once regular sessions have ended, you can continue to make appointments on an ad hoc basis.
In general, I run a very full diary so my flexibility is limited. Ad hoc sessions are therefore subject to availability.
If you cancel a session with less than 48 hours notice, I will charge you the full fee for the missed session. However, it is worth asking me if I can offer you a different time, or have your session via phone or Skype.
If you would like to keep your preferred time slot whilst you are away on holiday, business trip, or other long-term break, I can charge a 50% holding fee to reserve your slot while you are away.
If your sessions are covered by health insurance the same cancellation and holding fees apply. You are personally responsible for these charges unless your insurance provider agrees to pay.
I follow the code of ethics of the British Psychological Society, American Psychological Association, and the SociétéFrançaise de Psychologie, which can be found on their websites.
Your discussions with me, and any notes I write, are confidential and will not be disclosed to any other person without your consent.
Exceptions to this rule would be if I am required to disclose information by a court of law, or in order to protect you or another person from significant harm.
In addition, psychologists are required by their profession to have regular supervision sessions where they may discuss aspects of your therapy. I will not, however, reveal your identity during these sessions.
Information held about you on Monaco Psychological Services, LTD’s computer system is covered by the Data Protection Act 1998, and will not be disclosed to third parties.
